MERRA have chosen this year to replace the annual cricket match with a residents’ fishing competition. When we say competition, it’s more about a community get together with, yes, a prize for biggest fish (and we encourage a catch and release policy for large fish, so a photo will suffice). But we ask that you submit your catch for filleting so we can then hold a fish barbecue with contestants and your boat guests at Scotts Beach. There will be spot prizes (so it’s not just about biggest and best) and the barbecue will be a simple one, complemented by produce from the community garden.
This is a single day competition, with more detail to be provided on how to enter and the rules of engagement in due course.
The date set for the day is Saturday 4 April 2020.
